相当难看了，回忆段落冗长乏味。但是大段回忆似乎在卓别林早期是挺罕见的手法。

酒馆打斗太突兀，往昔回忆也没什么趣味。最扰人的一点，作为一部默剧，中插字幕太*繁。

一众闹剧中的清流。从密集的字幕（这应该是默片的反面教材，后期他的大片字幕都很少很简洁）可以看出卓别林想表达的真的很多。入行才半年，单纯的闹剧就已经满足不了他了，他希望呈现的是立体的人物、复杂的故事和深刻的情感。与keystone分道扬*是迟早的事。

卓别林第一部严肃片，并运用了闪回手法。弃以往之疯笨诙谐，饰演一个为情所抛的落魄画家，即使结尾加入了一贯的斗架场景，但是却无不透露着一种悲剧苍凉的味调，要记得，即使生活再down，醉得浑倒在地，也不要忘了随手在地上画一个大大的笑脸^_
